30. 05. 2008 - Czech Airlines Celebrates the 70th Anniversary of its Paris Route

Prague, 30 May 2008

On Monday, Czech Airlines will celebrate the seventy years since the start of regular flights between Prague and France’s capital, Paris.  The former Czechoslovak Airlines flew to the destination for the first time on 2 June 1938.  At first, the route was operated with a stop in Strasbourg.  Presently, on its four daily flights, the Airline deploys its most modern Airbus A320 aircraft or Boeing 737s for 162 passengers.  They travel the distance between Prague and Paris in 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Czechoslovak Airlines launched its service to Paris in the year that – with the subsequent outbreak of WWII – brought a halt to the promising growth of Czechoslovak aviation.  In spite of that, in 1938, the CSA flight network included a total of 24 segments, 12 of which were abroad.

Last year, the service to Paris was used by 257,900 passengers, which represents an 8.3 percent increase.  Overall, Czech Airlines operated more than 1,390 flights between Prague and Paris in 2007, which is the same level as the year before.  The increasing passenger numbers, which exceed those of the number of flights, documents that the seat-load factor keeps increasing every year.  This year, Czech Airlines expects a further increase in demand for flights between Prague and Paris.

The Czech Airlines flights between Prague and Paris are used primarily by French businessmen and managers.  The departure times on the route were chosen so as to suit the broadest possible range of passengers, and also make it possible to use the flights for one-day business meetings in Prague.

During the summer schedule, i.e., from 30 March through 25 October, Czech Airlines offers four daily flights to Paris, leaving Prague at 7:15, 13:05, 16:20, and 18:10.  From Paris, passengers can fly at 9:55, 15:45, 19:00, and 20:45.  In addition to these four flights, Czech Airlines passengers can use another four daily flights offered in code-share cooperation with Air France, leaving Paris at 7:15, 13:10, 18:20, and 20:05 and departing from Prague at 7:00, 10:00, 15:55, and 20:40.

In France, in addition to Paris, Czech Airlines also newly flies to Strasbourg, nine times a week.  In cooperation with Air France, Czech Airlines passengers can also use flights to Lyon, Bordeaux, Mulhouse, and Nice.
