29. 08. 2008 - Czech Airlines New Complimentary Baggage-Wrapping Service in High Demand

The new service of wrapping baggage in protective foil, which Czech Airlines began to offer in June, is in high demand.  Each week, several thousand Czech Airlines passengers take advantage of the option of having their bags wrapped in protective foil at no extra charge, before their departure from Prague Airport.

Czech Airlines offers to wrap bags in protective foil for all of its passengers travelling on scheduled flights from Prague Airport.  Passengers can make use of the new service at a special baggage-wrapping stands, marked in Czech Airlines’ corporate colours, at both Prague Airport terminals.  The new service is available to any passenger whose ticket bears the OK flight code, i.e., Czech Airlines passengers as well as passengers flying with one of the code-share partners with an OK ticket.  Conversely, the service is not available to passengers on Czech Airlines charter flights and to Click4Sky.com passengers.  The baggage-wrapping counter is staffed from 5:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily, so that its opening hours cover all scheduled Czech Airlines flights.

Czech Airlines introduced the service in response to the wish of its customers.  Marketing surveys showed that free baggage-wrapping in protective foil is one of the benefits that passengers would most welcome.  Czech Airlines has for a long time ranked below the European average in the number of lost or damaged bags, and it is among the better-rated.  Nevertheless, the Airline wants to do even more to prevent against the potential damage that bags may incur at large transit airports, by introducing the new complimentary baggage-wrapping service.

The only way that airlines can influence the way baggage is handled is to choose high-quality handling partners, providing baggage sorting and loading into aircraft at individual airports.  Czech Airlines pays great attention to baggage, and regularly inspects its partners at individual airports.  Czech Airlines personnel also conduct constant monitoring of all of the stations in its network, identify the possible reasons for baggage delays, and strive to cooperate to the greatest extent possible with the airports where a significant number of bags are loaded onto Czech Airlines flights.
