29. 11. 2011 - Czech Airlines Welcomed an Aircraft in a Retro Livery

Prague, 29 November 2011

Today shortly after 3 p.m., a Czech Airlines Boeing 737-500 arrived at Prague – Ruzyně Airport, sporting a 1957 retro livery.  This is the same coat that was used on the first Československé aerolinie jet aircraft – Tu-104A OK-LDA – on its first flight on the scheduled Moscow route on 9 December 1957.

Next year, 55 years will have passed since that event.  The scheduled Moscow route was one of the first routes in the world to be operated solely by jet aircraft.  To mark the occasion, Czech Airlines has decided to fulfil the wishes of numerous aviation fans and include an aircraft in a “historical livery” in its fleet.  Czech Airlines has thus combined the necessity of the prescribed complete livery renewal with the wishes of numerous fans and presented the exceptional livery today.

The retro livery choice was implemented on the first aircraft that came up in the schedule of planned overall coat renewal.  The aircraft was re-coated in Bournemouth, UK.  The OK-XGB aircraft sporting a retro livery will be deployed on the first commercial flight tomorrow, 30 November, on the morning flight to Stockholm.  As of 10 December 2011, it will operate on scheduled Czech Airlines flights dispatched from Bratislava.
