22. 07. 2009 - Czech Airlines Won the Tender for the Handling Services Provider for Air France-KLM

Prague, 22 July 2009

Czech Airlines won the tender for the provision of handling services in Prague for Air France-KLM flights. Czech Airlines will thus continue to provide this carrier with all standard handling services, such as passenger handling and the handling of aircraft on the ramp. The new agreement will be signed by the end of the month and will apply from 1 August 2009 for a term of three years.

Czech Airlines will thus continue to provide handling services for some 2,560 Air France-KLM flights to/from Prague per year. Czech Airlines is managing, thanks in part to the newly won agreement, to retain and gradually increase its share of the overall annual handling at Prague Airport.

We are very pleased that Czech Airlines can carry on in cooperation with one of its most important customers, Air France-KLM. I am convinced that Czech Airlines won due to its high-quality product, provided at advantageous financial conditions, the standard of which our partners have seen for themselves during our cooperation to date,” said Czech Airlines’ Vice-President for Ground Operations, Peter Jusko.

Last year, Czech Airlines handled 7.6 million passengers (of which 5.4 million were its own, and 2.2 million were the passengers of other airlines) on 115,214 aircraft arrivals and departures.  Czech Airlines’ share of the overall output of Prague Airport in 2008 amounted to 60.5%, in terms of the number of passengers handled, which means a year-on-year increase of 3.5%, and 64.5%, in terms of the number of arriving and departing flights handled, which means a year-on-year increase of 5.1%.

Czech Airlines’ customers include, above all, its partners – the members of the SkyTeam Alliance operating to/from Prague, such as Air France-KLM, Delta Air Lines, Aeroflot, and Korean Air, as well as other airlines, such as CAI, Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines, Austrian Airlines, SAS – Scandinavian Airline System, Malev, Finnair, Aerosvit, China Airlines-Cargo, and others. The newest client of Czech Airlines’ handling is Luxair, which has flown regularly to Prague since August 2008. Czech Airlines is negotiating with other potential customers.
