22. 05. 2008 - Czech Airlines Plans to Introduce Direct Service between Prague and Florida

Prague, 22 May 2008

Czech Airlines is planning direct flights between Prague and Florida, in the United States.  The plan to introduce this new connection was approved by the Airline’s Management Board this week, with the commencement of operations being conditioned on the cancellation of the visa requirement for Czech citizens, which is expected later this year.

The specific airport in Florida will be chosen pursuant to Czech Airlines’ negotiations with its business partners.  The route will be operated as a scheduled service, with a guaranteed capacity for cooperating tour operators and travel agencies.  They are currently noting client demand.  Tickets will, however, be available even to individual tourists, from the Czech Republic and the United States alike.  The service is expected to be once a week, and could be introduced as early as the 4th quarter of this year.

By introducing scheduled service to Florida, we are flexibly responding to market demand and also working to maximise our fleet utilisation.  Both these activities will bring our clients an improvement in the product we offer, and our Airline an increased growth in revenue,” said Czech Airlines Vice President for Sales, Petr Řehák.

Presently, Czech Airlines offers passengers daily service from Prague to New York, and also five flights a week from Prague to Atlanta in code-share* cooperation with Delta Air Lines.  In addition, with a transfer in New York or Atlanta, Czech Airlines passengers can take OK designated flights with Delta Air Lines to nearly 40 American cities, such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington, Houston, Miami, Dallas, Boston, Detroit, Cleveland and Denver, as well as Oklahoma City, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland, St. Louis, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Austin, Cincinnati, Jackson, and Jacksonville.  Furthermore, in June, Hartford, Rochester, Buffalo, and Indianapolis will be added.

Presently, Czech Airlines offers flights to 135 destinations in 48 countries.  The Airline operates those flights with a fleet of 51 aircraft.  On long-haul flights, Airbus A310 aircraft are deployed, which have been undergoing gradual, comprehensive overhauls since this May, with an emphasis on passenger comfort and operational and technical parameters.
