17. 04. 2008 - Czech Airlines Will Launch New Flights to Tbilisi and Rostov-on-Don
Prague, 17 April 2008
On 24 April, Czech Airlines will connect Prague with the Georgian metropolis of Tbilisi, and Russia’s Rostov-on-Don, which lies in the south of the European part of the country. Czech Airlines will offer the Tbilisi flight three times a week, and the flight to Rostov-on-Don, for the time being, once a week. Departure times will suit businessmen on their business travels from Western Europe to Georgia or the south of Russia, as well as Georgian and Russian tourists headed to the Czech Republic.
“For Czech Airlines, the connections to Tbilisi and Rostov-on-Don represent another two important points in the network, which are, moreover, situated in a very promising area between the Black and Caspian Seas,” said the Vice-President for Marketing and Product Development at Czech Airlines, Petr Pištělák, regarding the newly opened routes. In this region, in addition to the two new connections from Prague to Tbilisi and Rostov-on-Don, Czech Airlines also offers flights to the capital of the neighbouring Armenia, Yerevan, five times a week, and also, in cooperation with the Russian operator Aeroflot, to Omsk, in southern Russia. “For passengers from Georgia, the new route will represent the only direct connection between their country and Prague. Also, for the south of the European part of Russia, this is the first direct flight to the Czech Republic. For passengers from the region between the Black and Caspian Seas, our service offers not only trips to Prague, but also opens up the possibility of transferring to the connecting network of Czech Airlines flights, primarily to Western Europe and North America,” said Petr Pištělák.

Tbilisi is the capital of Georgia, lying in the central part of the country on the River Kura. It has 1.4 million inhabitants. Tbilisi was established in the 5th century, although the area had been settled earlier.
Rostov-on-Don lies in the south of the European part of Russia, near the Ukrainian border, about 50 km from the Azov Sea. It has over one million inhabitants and is the administrative centre of the Rostov Region. The city was established around 1750, and thanks to the high volume of traffic on the River Don, it has seen very rapid development.
