16. 05. 2011 - Czech Airlines’ Direct Flights Connect Bratislava to Transfer Hubs, and thus to the World
Czech Airlines will inaugurate its service from Bratislava with a first flight to Amsterdam on 23 June 2011. Tickets go on sale at midnight tonight.
Bratislava, 16 May 2011
As of tomorrow, i.e. Tuesday, 17 May, passengers can purchase tickets for the new Czech Airlines flights from Bratislava’s M. R. Štefánik Airport. As the airline announced last week, it will introduce six direct flights from Bratislava to major European metropolises in June. Thanks to this initiative, Bratislava will be afforded a comfortable means of connecting to dozens of other destinations in North and South America, Africa, and Asia, to which it will be possible to travel on a single ticket. Czech Airlines will operate the first of these flights on 23 June to Amsterdam.
With the introduction of Czech Airlines’ direct flights to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Larnaca, Paris, and Rome, more comfortable connections to the most sought-after European destinations will be made available to residents of Bratislava, as well as western Slovakia. Furthermore, thanks to partners from the SkyTeam Alliance, they will be able to carry on to dozens of long-haul destinations all over the world from any one of three transfer points, and on one ticket. “We are connecting Bratislava to the worldwide network of flights of the SkyTeam Alliance, and in turn, we are bringing Slovakia’s capital closer for both business travellers and tourists alike,” explains Jiří Marek, a member of the Czech Airlines Management Board and Vice President for Sales and Marketing, adding: “We hope that the new Bratislava flight options and the linguistic proximity of the services provided will also appeal to people living in the catchment area of Southern Moravia.”
Tomáš Kika, Director of the Sales and Marketing Division of Bratislava Airport adds: “This is good solid news, not only for Slovak passengers, but also for passengers from the nearby areas of neighbouring countries. The expansion of Bratislava Airport’s offer by the initial 21 direct flights a week to 6 destinations will significantly broaden and improve the quality of the portfolio of services for all passengers, including those travelling on business. Connections to key transfer hubs, such as Amsterdam, Paris and Rome, open up the possibility of travelling from Bratislava Airport to literally the entire world.”
Czech Airlines is considering supplementing its portfolio of flights from Bratislava in future with code-share connections. “We are considering several different levels of frequency and other destinations that have interesting potential. Our goal in this main summer season is to have 27 return flights weekly from Bratislava, but this will all depend on passenger interest and thus on whether those travelling from Slovakia will prefer to fly directly from Bratislava. Czech Airlines will respond flexibly to demand,” adds Jiří Marek.
The price for one-way tickets to these new destinations starts at 49 euros, inclusive of all fees. Customers can purchase tickets on the airline’s websites at www.czechairlines.com, through the Czech Airlines Call Centre at +420 239 007 007, at the first Czech Airlines OK Point in Slovakia at Krížna Street No. 5 in Bratislava, or from any IATA ticket vendor. Passengers can collect miles in the OK Plus Frequent Flyer Programme for the tickets flown and other services purchased from Czech Airlines and its partner airlines from the SkyTeam Alliance. They can then convert those miles into, for example, reward tickets within the SkyTeam Alliance network, weekend stays in Europe, or attractive gifts.
