12. 08. 2008 - Czech Airlines Defended its Position as the Best Airline in the Region in the World Airline Awards Ranking

Czech Airlines earned the prestigious award “Best Airline in Central Europe”, bestowed annually on the basis of the votes of millions of passengers from all over the world, by the independent British organisation Skytrax, in its World Airline Awards ranking.  Czech Airlines has thus defended its position as the best-rated carrier in the region.

In addition to the overall victory in the Central European region, Czech Airlines flight crews were also awarded, winning the “Best In-Flight Service” in the Central-European Region.  In a Europe-wide ranking, Czech Airlines’ cabin attendants ranked second.  The award stands as testimony to the quality of services offered by Czech Airlines, and especially about the professionalism of the Airline.

The World Airline Awards ranking is compiled annually on the basis of the votes of passengers, worldwide.  Over 15 million passengers participated in this year’s evaluation over the last ten months.

“We very much value our placement in the World Airline Awards ranking, as these honours are awarded on the basis of the votes of millions of passengers from all over the world.  The fact that Czech Airlines has maintained its position as the leader in the region, even at a time when a cost crisis is crushing the entire aviation sector, shows that the present situation has no impact on the quality of Czech Airlines’ services and product,” said Czech Airlines President, Radomír Lašák, in commenting on the award.

Aside from the high professionalism of Czech Airlines’ crews, passengers especially appreciated the high-quality of the in-flight services offered, including catering, the offer of daily press, the entertainment system in our new aircraft, and naturally, also the comfort on board.  In addition, the services provided by Czech Airlines at airports were rated well, such as the handling of passengers in both Business and Economy Classes, and the amenities offered by airport lounges.

The title from the independent organisation Skytrax is not the only award Czech Airlines has won recently.  For the fifth year in a row, the Airline defended primacy in the competition for the title “The Best Airline Based in Central and Eastern Europe”, awarded annually by the international aviation organisation Official Airline Guide (OAG), on the basis of a vote by frequent business travellers.  Earlier this year, and for the eighth time, Czech Airlines also won the title “The Best Airline” in the TTG Travel Awards 2008, handed out by the magazine TTG Czech.
