09. 01. 2008 - Czech Airlines Introduces an Innovation – A Platinum Card for Frequent Flyer Programme Members

Prague, 9 January 2008

Czech Airlines newly offers the members of its OK Plus Frequent Flyer Programme a Platinum Card.  At the beginning of the year, the Airline expanded its system of rewards for passengers who fly with it regularly.  Up to now, loyal passengers could make use of the advantages offered by the OK Plus Silver and Gold Cards.  The Platinum Card can be newly obtained by those members of the OK Plus Frequent Flyer Programme who collect 100,000 miles in one calendar year, flying in the networks of Czech Airlines and the SkyTeam Alliance.

By introducing the Platinum Card, we are striving to fulfil the wishes of our business passengers, and primarily those who have repeatedly earned an OK Plus Gold Card.  This prestigious card will help us assure an individualised approach in the provision of above-standard services for our most loyal and valued passengers, who will thus have another reason to collect miles and travel comfortably on board of Czech Airlines,” said the Director of Frequent Flyer Programmes at Czech Airlines, Tomáš Hrdlička.

Advantages for Platinum Card Holders
Platinum Card holders will be able to take advantage of a number of above-standard services.  For example, should they purchase an electronic ticket for a flight operated by Czech Airlines, they can request an upgrade to Business Class, 24 hours before the flight, for themselves and one accompanying passenger.  Naturally, they will receive priority check-in and access to business lounges on their flights with the SkyTeam Alliance, anywhere in the world, and priority handling during passport and security checks when departing from Prague.  Another advantage for the holders of Platinum Cards is a 100% Elite bonus.  That means that each passenger will get twice the number of miles for each flight.  Passengers holding OK Plus Platinum Cards can carry an extra 30 kg of excess baggage at no charge, and another 10 kg for the accompanying passenger.  The card will be of use primarily to business travellers, who will enjoy a broader range of benefits than they have been able to use in the programme to date.

Another important bonus is the Partner Gold Card, for a person chosen by the Platinum Card holder.  Furthermore, should the OK Plus member not meet the limit for earning the Platinum Card the following year, Czech Airlines will give him an OK Plus Gold Card, regardless of the number of miles earned or flights flown.  There will also be a special telephone line for Platinum Card holders, for the OK Plus 24/7 Service Centre, where they will be able to easily arrange the drawing of all of the benefits to which they are entitled.  The holders of the highest level of OK Plus Programme membership will also get six, one-time invitations for free access to Crystal Lounges at Prague Airport, which they can give to anyone of their choice.

OK Plus for Individuals
Czech Airlines’ frequent flyer programme, OK Plus, celebrated its 15th anniversary.  It is one of the oldest frequent flyer programmes among European airlines.  Becoming a member of the programme is advantageous for any passenger who regularly flies with Czech Airlines.  All that is required is to complete an application form, which can be found on the Internet or in our in-flight magazine, Review.  The passenger will then receive a membership card, with which he can start collecting miles.  Those miles can then be redeemed for reward tickets anywhere in the world and for a number of other travel-related benefits, such as upgrades from Economy to Business Class, admission to Czech Airlines lounges and the lounges of Czech Airlines’ alliance partners, free excess baggage, car hire, a lesson on a flight simulator, or a flight in the Czech Airlines balloon.  For a certain number miles or flight segments flown in one calendar year, OK Plus members can get higher level cards: Silver, Gold, and newly a Platinum card, which brings a number of above-standard advantages and comforts in air travel.  In cooperation with Citibank, these products can also be obtained in combination with a credit card.  In that case, miles are also credited for payments made with that card.

Furthermore, OK Plus is linked to the frequent flyer programmes of the thirteen other airlines associated in the SkyTeam Alliance, enabling passengers to collect miles or draw reward tickets throughout the entire alliance network.  Presently, there are 280,000 members registered in the OK Plus Programme.

OK Plus Corporate for Companies
Aside from the OK Plus Programme, which is designed for individuals, Czech Airlines also offers a similar programme for corporate clients - OK Plus Corporate.  Companies can collect points in their corporate account, for the flights of their employees, and employees, provided that they are OK Plus members, earn miles in their private accounts.  The combination of both programmes is ideal for clients.  Furthermore, large companies have corporate agreements signed with Czech Airlines, and obtain tailor-made conditions.  Most of them have special preferential prices for specific selected destinations in the Czech Airlines network.
