02. 04. 2009 - Czech Airlines Earned the Best Airline of the Central-European Region award in the World Airline Awards Ranking

Prague, 2 April 2009

Czech Airlines defended its position as the best airline in the Central-European region. For 2008, as in previous years, it won the prestigious award “The Best Airline in Central Europe”, bestowed annually by the independent UK organisation Skytrax, in the World Airline Awards ranking, on the basis of the votes of millions of passengers from all over the world.

In the World Airline Awards ranking, the services of airlines from all over the world are ranked by passengers themselves. Over 15 million passengers participated in this year’s rating over the last ten months.

“Czech Airlines greatly values this prestigious award. Ranking at the top of the regional World Airline Awards ranking is all the more valuable, as it is done by passengers themselves in the time of economic crisis,” said Czech Airlines President, Radomír Lašák.

Above all, passengers appreciated the high-quality service offered on board Czech Airlines, including catering, as well as the on-board comfort. The services offered by Czech Airlines at airports also received a good rating, such as baggage wrapping, free taxi rides for Business Class passengers to Prague Airport, rapid passage through the airport for Business Class passengers, check-in, and the equipment and furnishings of airport lounges.

The award from the independent organisation Skytrax is not the only title that Czech Airlines has won recently, for example, the Airline defended its primacy among the domestic competition, in the TTG Travel Awards 2008 of the industry magazine TTG Czech, where Czech Airlines received the title “The Best Airline”. Last year, in addition to the World Airline Awards competition, Czech Airlines also won its category in the Official Airline Guide ranking, which is compiled on the basis of a vote by frequent business travellers.
