30. 6. 2006 - New Citibank and ČSA Credit Card Offers Unique Advantages

30 June 2006

From the beginning of July, Citibank a.s. and Czech Airlines will offer a joint credit card. The new product will combine the advantages of Citibank credit cards – foremost of which is a high level of security – with the OK Plus Frequent Flyer program of which the cardholder will automatically become a member. Every time the card is used and for each flight with Czech Airlines, the SkyTeam Alliance and other non-airline OK Plus partners, the cardholder will receive miles that can then be exchanged for bonus flight tickets to anywhere in the world and a range of other above-standard advantages to enhance the travelling experience.

“Citibank wants to offer its clients only the best. Therefore we have joined with Czech Airlines, which this year was named “Best Airline Based in Central/Eastern Europe” for the third time. This partnership between two companies as strong as Czech Airlines and Citibank will provide clients with advantages such as international use, above-standard security and the widest range of benefits and supplementary services on the Czech market,” stated Bert Pijls, head of the Citibank Czech Consumer Banking Division.

Two versions of the Citi ČSA credit cards will be offered – a standard ‘Classic’ credit card and a ‘Gold’ credit card for demanding clients. Each time the Classic credit card is used, its holder will receive one mile for each hundred crowns spent, while Gold cardholders will receive two miles for every hundred crowns. Cardholders will also obtain an initial bonus of up to 5,000 miles for a Classic card and up to 10,000 for a Gold card.

The same membership principles apply to the new Citi ČSA credit cards as for OK Plus program membership cards. Three versions of the cards are provided according to the number of miles or flights - OK Plus Member, OK Plus Silver and OK Plus Gold. To upgrade to the Silver level a client must fly 25,000 miles with SkyTeam Alliance, and 50,000 miles to upgrade to the Gold level. Cardholders can benefit from a range of advantages all over the world, for example priority check-in services, upgrades to Business class, access to lounges and so on.

“With the launch of the joint Citi ČSA credit cards we are complying with the wishes of our long-term customers, who will now be able to travel using a single joint card. They will thus obtain a practical and prestigious payment instrument that will guarantee them all the benefits that they had before when using the separate OK Plus membership card,” said Marie Macounová, Czech Airlines Vice-president for Marketing and Product Development.

Citibank credit cards are among the most secure on the market, as they are the only ones in the Czech Republic to include a photograph and signature of the holder on the front. They also stand out thanks to the longest interest-free period (55 days) and a wide range of supplementary services. Clients can arrange family travel insurance on the cards, insurance against the inability to make repayments, direct debit, or original services such as the Citibank Cash Payment Program or the Citibank Individual Payment Program.
