27. 10. 2005 - Czech Airlines begins 2005/2006 Winter Season
Prague, 27 October 2005
As of 30 October, the Czech Airlines Winter timetable becomes effective. The new season brings with it added flight frequencies especially to Eastern Europe. In addition, Czech Airlines has prepared several innovations in catering and cabin accessories for its passengers. The Winter Season will also usher in a new visual style for CSA tickets and other documents.
With the new timetable, Czech Airlines will add flights to destinations in Eastern Europe. From November, there will be more flights to, for example, Sarajevo, Minsk, Skopje, Bucharest, Moscow, Yerevan and Kiev. A number of flights will also be added to already-existing routes such as Athens, Hanover, Marseille/Barcelona.
The number of flights to Ostrava will remain at up to five flights a day, and because of persistent interest in a noon-time flight, CSA will operate it with B737-400 for 162 passengers.
Flights to the USA will be now concentrated on New York’s JFK airport, where passengers can connect to alliance partners’ flights (Delta, Northwest Airlines, Continental Airlines) to all important cities in the United States. Flights to Newark Airport will be terminated.
Passengers in Business Class will experience several improvements in catering and cabin accessories. “From the Winter Season, we’ve established cooperation with the Czech Association of Chefs and Confectioners and the Association of Sommeliers. We want our meals and wines to be selected according both to current trends and the requirements of our passengers”, says Bohuslav Šantrůček, Vice-president for Marketing and Sales, Czech Airlines.
CSA cuisine is well-known globally, and is used by twelve airlines. At the beginning of October, CSA Catering was given a Partners in Excellence 2004/2005 award from British Airways for the in-flight services CSA provide for British Airways flights from Prague to London.
New design for tableware and cabin accessories
Meals and beverages will be served on a newly-designed collection of porcelain this Winter Season. Cutlery, glass and other accessories will also be in the same style. Passengers will gradually get to see new cabin accessories as well, such as blankets, headrest covers and cushions made of high-quality material. These accessories, as well as the porcelain, were designed and manufactured especially for CSA.
Changes to the visual style
CSA has decided to change the visual style of its tickets, ticket envelopes, baggage tags, menus and wine lists, boarding passes and lounge invitations from the beginning of the Winter Season.
In the Winter Season, CSA will offer connections to 117 destinations in 50 countries.
The new timetable is available on-line at the CSA website (www.csa.cz).
