15. 7. 2005 - Czech Airlines begins regular flights to Žilina

Czech Airlines begins regular service between Prague and Žilina from July 15, 2005.  The new flight will be operated in early afternoon, daily, except for Saturdays.  Czech Airlines will thus renew its regular service to the third largest town in Slovakia after more than 25 years, when the last regular flight landed at Žilina airport at the turn of the seventies and eighties.

Czech Airlines plans to operate the Žilina flight on business days and Sundays, departing from Prague at 12:25 and arriving in Žilina at 13:30 during the Summer season. The return flight will depart Žilina at 14:15 arriving in Prague at 15:25. The flight will be operated by ATR42 - 500 airplanes for 46 passengers which are the newest generation of this type of turboprop airplanes.

In addition to the Žilina service, Czech Airlines offers connections to another three Slovak destinations – Bratislava (26 weekly flights), Košice (26 weekly flights) and Sliač (6 weekly flights). Over the January – May 2005 period, Czech Airlines transported almost 73 620 passengers on its flights to Slovakia which represents a growth of 8% if compared with the same period of the previous year.
