9. 6. 2005 - Czech Airlines and Petr Čech christen new-generation Airbus A321’s
Prague, 9 June 2005
Today, Czech Airlines is celebrating the occasion of new generation Airbus A321’s joining the CSA fleet. The aircraft will travel the world carrying the names of Havlíčkův Brod and Nové město nad Metují. The ceremony at Ruzyně Airport was attended by the mayors of both the towns, CSA management and by two football goalkeepers, Petr Čech and Jaromír Blažek.
CSA will operate the new Airbus A321 airplanes for 215 passengers on its charter flights to popular holiday destinations, such as Egypt, Greece, Turkey and Tunisia.
The Airbus A321 airplane is an extended version of A320, already operated by CSA on its regular services. The only difference is in a slightly larger wing surface, heavier undercarriage, more powerful engines and simplified fuel system. Technically, it is equipped with the state-of-the-art technologies, including the fly-by-wire system which replaces the traditional steering with an electronic sidestick.
CSA starts long-term cooperation with Petr Čech
As of today, CSA starts cooperation with Petr Čech, one of the most successful contemporary Czech sportsman. Petr represents a modern, successful representative of the Czech Republic abroad, as well as Czech Airlines, the national carrier.
“CSA flights will be Petr Čech’s flights. We intend to take advantage of Petr’s popularity, especially on flights between Prague and the UK connecting our two most important markets. We’ve prepared several competitions for our passengers, for example for tickets to FC Chelsea football matches, or for flight tickets to Petr Cech & Friends event taking place in Prague next week“, said Bohuslav Šantrůček, CSA Vice-president for Marketing and Sales, on the occasion of beginning the cooperation.
From this April, CSA operates to 7 destinations in the UK from Prague, offering a total of 96 weekly flights. It is the only carrier serving all three London airports seven times a day. The Czech Republic and the UK represent the most important markets for CSA and last year, they generated 36% of all revenues in the network.
