29. 12. 2004 - Czech Airlines to operate a special Prague-Dubai-Colombo flight today

Prague, 29 December  2004

Czech Airlines has adjusted its schedule and another special flight from Prague to Colombo (Sri Lanka) via Dubai is departing today. The capacity of this flight has also been increased and it can carry up to 209 passengers back to Prague. A physician will be in the crew and he will provide medical assistance on the returning flight. The OK 188 flight is scheduled to depart from Ruzyně Airport today, at 5.30 pm.

CSA has already operated 2 flights with increased capacity within last few days, and most CSA passengers from the disaster stricken area returned to Prague on them. Czech Airlines also offers the free capacity on its returning flights from Colombo and Male to Prague to the clients of other travel agencies and passengers of airlines that cancelled their flights to the area. For detailed information please contact the CSA office in Colombo, at tel. 009411345704 or CSA Call Centre. Even a crew of our competitor airline that cancelled its flights to the area will return to Prague with CSA.

Another regular Prague – Colombo CSA flight is planned for Thursday, 30 December 2004. It will return to Prague via Male (the Maldives) airport to fly back Czech citizens, including a group of Czech artist. As the navigation systems at Male airport are out of order, one of the most experienced CSA pilots, an A310 captain and instructor, Michal Šášinka left for the area yesterday and he will personally land the aircraft at Male.

CSA also offers the free cargo capacity on its flights to transport humanitarian aid. 16 tons of packed drinking water were sent to the area on CSA flights upon the decision of the interdepartmental Emergency Operation Centre. In addition, CSA also sent its own humanitarian aid to Sri Lanka - first aid kits, sanitary supplies and clothing.

Upon request, CSA will change departure dates of passengers who planned to travel to Sri Lanka within the following days, free of charge. Departure dates may be changed free of charge until 31 January 2004, provided the passenger selects another departure date until the end of April 2005. Detailed information is available at CSA Call Centre at tel. 239 007 007.
