Prague, August 24th, 2004
Czech Airlines transported a total of 2.4 million passengers in the January – July period this year, representing growth of 27% in comparison to the same period of the previous year.
Other traffic performance indicators grew in the January – July period as well. Czech Airlines had a total of 18,000 flights which represents a year-on-year increase of more than 18%. CSA also showed further increases in its seat load factor, whose value grew to 71% over the January-July period.
Additionally, CSA had double-digit growth in the transportation of cargo and mail – 13,010 tons for the January-July 2004 period, representing growth of 15%.
The number of transported passengers grew not only over the first seven months of the year but also in the month of July itself. CSA transported almost 460,000 passengers, which represents a year-on-year increase of 23%.
In July, Czech Airlines had 3,095 flights and transported 1,800 tons of cargo and mail.
Excellent results have also been achieved on the new Prague – Marseille – Barcelona service, where the seat load factor showed an above-average rate of 76% in the first two months of operation.
“The new flight has been eagerly accepted by the local market, especially business passengers on the Marseille – Barcelona link and transit passengers using the attractive connections via Prague to further destinations in Central and Eastern Europe. We plan to increase the frequency of flights in the next summer season,” said Milan Hašek, CSA representative for South France.
The Prague – Marseille – Barcelona flight was introduced at the beginning of June, as a completely new product in an effort to capitalize on the Czech Republic’s entry into the EU. With the entry CSA has acquired the right to transport passengers and cargo from one EU state to another on connecting flights from the home country.
