31. 5. 2004 - Czech Airlines Is Introducing a New Air Service to Luxembourg

Prague, May 31, 2004

Another new destination will appear on the CSA aviation map. On June 1, 2004 for the first time, CSA aircraft will take off from Prague and land in Luxembourg, the capital of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Subsequently, Luxembourg will join the already operating services to the destinations of Brussels and Amsterdam, by which the coverage of the Benelux countries by CSA flights will be completed. The new service will mainly be operating with ATR4 46-seater turboprop aircraft, which during the summer will connect Prague with Luxembourg seven times a week.

From the beginning of June CSA passengers will be able to use a new flight connection between Prague and Luxembourg. Luxembourg, together with the Netherlands and Belgium will form a triangle on the CSA aviation map within the Benelux countries. The new service will be operated in code-share co-operation with the French airline - Air France.

“Luxembourg is a city of significant cultural sights and is deservedly included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. I believe that thanks to the new CSA flight this cosmopolitan city will become more attractive to Czech tourists, who among other things share with the Luxembourg residents a certain history,” said Vendula Raymová, the Director of CSA Commercial Representation for Belgium and Luxembourg.

The new direct connection between Prague and Luxembourg will extend the selection of possible transit points for passengers heading further to European and non-European destinations. The flight network of the Sky Team alliance will subsequently be enlarged together with the range of client benefits associated with connecting flights, the density of air coverage, the high frequency of flight services and also with the option of drawing flight miles into loyalty programmes of all the alliance members.

The new Prague - Luxembourg flight should satisfy not only CSA’s wide existing clientele but also the increasing demand in the business and diplomatic sectors connected with the entry of the Czech Republic into the EU. “We expect increased interest from Czech business people and diplomats, who travel to Luxembourg, the seat of many European and banking institutions, mainly for work reasons. We believe that the new route will be as successful and popular as the already established Prague – Brussels route,” adds Zuzana Reznickova, the Vice-president of Marketing and Sales.

The flight connection between Ruzyne International Airport in Prague and Findel, the Luxembourg international airport will mainly be serviced by ATR4 turboprop aircraft. The scheduled flight to Luxembourg and back will take off from Prague daily at 12:20 hours and arrive at the Luxembourg airport at 14:00 hours. Thirty minutes later, the aircraft will take off for its return flight arriving at 16:10 hours at Ruzyně airport. A return ticket will only cost 4990 crowns.

After Dortmund, Krakow, Baku, Jekatěrinburg and Samara, Luxembourg is the sixth new city which has been added to CSA’s destinations for the 2004 summer flight schedule. New destinations, together with the planned non Prague flight – the Marseille – Barcelona connection, represent new developments springing both from the entry of the Czech Republic to the European Union and the expansion of Czech Airlines services based on the strategy of the further development of the flagship airline operator of the Czech Republic.

Czech Airlines, a member of the international aviation alliance - Sky Team, currently offers direct connections to 75 destinations in 44 countries of the world. During the summer season Czech Airlines plans to make 20,200 flights (a year-on-year increase of 20 %) and transport 2.9 million passengers (a year-on-year increase of 22 %). Czech Airlines provides its clients in all market segments with a top product focused on a professional, personal and human approach. Moreover, Czech Airlines has a leading position among the airline operators within the countries that are newly entering the European Union on May 1.
