SkyTeam Newsflash - August 2007

SkyTeam, the global airline alliance partnering Aeroflot, Aeroméxico, Air France, Alitalia, Continental Airlines, CSA, Delta Air Lines, KLM, Korean Air and Northwest Airlines, sets itself apart by offering an exclusive experience for all passengers.  Issued monthly, SkyTeam NewsFlash provides media with key updates and insights on alliance activities.

Travel with the SkyTeam Asia Pass

With less than one year until the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, leisure travelers have the opportunity to access the entire Asia-Pacific region via SkyTeam’s Asia Pass. While touring Beijing, why not visit the Lotus Lantern Festival in Seoul, the Asakusa Samba Carnival in Tokyo and the Liberation Day Festival in Guam, too? With the SkyTeam Asia Pass, this itinerary is easy to plan.

The Asia Pass allows SkyTeam customers purchasing an intercontinental round trip ticket to Asia and/or the Pacific region to also purchase between three and eight discounted flight coupons. Through the flight coupons, passengers can explore the region via international or domestic flights serviced by five SkyTeam carriers. These flights are operated by Air France, Continental Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Korean Air or Northwest Airlines.

For example, an adult passenger starting his Asia Pass trip in Beijing and traveling on to – Seoul, Tokyo, Noumea, Osaka, Taipei, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and returning to Beijing – will pay $1,848 for the eight flight coupons. The conventional airfare for this itinerary would be more than $7,000. Passengers also benefit by earning miles, which count toward free reward tickets and Elite status.

SkyTeam currently serves 70 cities in 22 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, providing numerous options when selecting destinations with the Asia Pass.  As the network continues to grow, the Asia Pass continues to grow. This year alone, 1Q sales were up compared to 1Q sales from 2006.

China Southern, the largest airline in the People’s Republic of China, plans to join SkyTeam by the end of 2007. This will further expand the alliance’s network in China and provide passengers planning to attend the 2008 Olympics greater access to the region.

Increased access, attractive fares and streamlined travel are just a few of the perks from traveling with the SkyTeam Asia Pass.
